Charges pending after ATV crash
Two people were admitted to hospital with serious injuries following an ATV collision in the Ashmont area on Monday night.
A 52-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were riding the quad at about 6 p.m. on Range Road 110A when the male driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing the ATV to roll over, according to an RCMP press release. Both were thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Neither of them were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
People passing by came across the collision shortly afterwards and called 911. The female was airlifted from the scene by STARS Air Ambulance and taken to an Edmonton hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, while the man was taken by fixed wing aircraft from St. Paul, according to the press release. Both individuals’ conditions have improved and they are now both in stable condition.
An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. RCMP believe alcohol played a role in this collision; charges are pending against the male driver.
