Fatal collision on main street
A 46-year-old man has died following a collision between a pickup truck and a pedestrian on main street in St. Paul on Feb. 14.
The incident occurred at a crosswalk in downtown St. Paul, at the intersection of 50th avenue and 48th street at 9:30 a.m., according to an RCMP press release. Emergency services were called to the collision where the pedestrian had been struck by a Dodge Ram truck making a left hand turn.
Witnesses attempted first aid on the victim until EMS crews arrived but the man was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“At the time of the collision road and weather conditions were clear with good visibility,” said the release.
The 74-year-old male driver of the truck remained at the scene and was taken into custody. An investigation into the incident is ongoing with charges being considered against the driver of the truck, said the release.
Family has requested that the name of the victim not be released.
