Nominations file in for Oct. 21 election
Nominations for the Oct. 21 elections were filed in municipal offices Monday morning, with a number of former politicians being elected by acclamation, while other areas will have some decisions to make come election day.
The following results from the Sept. 23 nomination day are deemed unofficial, as nominees have 24 hours to withdraw their names.
Up for position of reeve for the County of St. Paul are Ray Danyluk, Ben Dyck, and Steve Upham.
Division 1 Coun. Glen Ockerman has been acclaimed, along with Division 2 Coun. Dwight Dach, and Division 3 Coun. Cliff Martin. Division 4 will see Maxine Fodness and David Neary on the ballot, while Division 5 will see Donna Hanson and Frank Sloan.
Division 6 also had an acclaimed candidate with Laurent Amyotte being the only nomination submitted.
Town of St. Paul Mayor Glenn Andersen will be around for another term as he was acclaimed.
Town residents will have eight names vying for six positions on town council. Candidates are Judy Bogdan, Edna Gervais, Ken Kwiatkowski, Normand Noel, Don (Bono) Padlesky, Nathan Taylor, John Trefanenko and Dwight (Danny White) Wiebe.
The Town of Elk Point is in a similar situation with Mayor Parish Tung being acclaimed.
Vying for the four positions available on council are Ron Fraess, Bernadette Godlien, Lorne Young, Debra Lynn McQuinn, Eugene Paul Buck, Lawrence M. Pidluzny, Bernice Capjack, Dick Millar, Dwayne Yaremkevich, and Coral Kratchmer.
St. Paul Education Regional Division will also hold its elections alongside the municipal election on Oct. 21.
Ward A will see Lorne Young in by acclamation, Ward B will see Deb Pederson in by acclamation, Ward C will see Leonard Ewanishan and Ruven Rajoo on the ballot, Ward D will see Rhonda Lafrance in by acclamation, Ward E will see Rhea Looy in by acclamation, Ward F will see Heather Starosielski in by acclamation, and the Glen Avon Ward will see Christopher Cook in by acclamation.
