Charges were dropped against a man who was a second suspect in the case of a horse shooting that occurred in the Lafond area last September.

Terrence McGonigle was charged on October 1, 2015 with criminal offences, including possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, careless use of a firearm, and two counts of willfully killing cattle and faced a preliminary hearing on June 29. After the preliminary hearing to hear the evidence in the case, charges were withdrawn against McGonigle.

Michael Leroux, the second person charged in the case, last month pled guilty to one count of willfully killing cattle and was sentenced to two years of probation, a two year weapons prohibition, and paid just over $10,000 in restitution to the family who owned the horses that were killed.
