ELK POINT – The clock is ticking down to this weekend’s Elk Point Agricultural Society Horticulture, Craft and Quilt Show, but there’s still time to get your quilts and Canada 150 projects in for the displays or to book a table for the vendors’ market and you still have until Saturday to get your entries for the Horticulture and Craft Show ready for the judges’ deliberations.Show organizer Donna Bassett says she will be at the A. G. Ross Arena on Friday to hang the quilts for the show, and quilters may bring their projects to her at that time or contact her at 780-724-4375 to arrange a drop-off time. For the convenience of quilters in St. Paul and area, display quilts may also be delivered to Yvonne’s Gone Quilting by 5 p.m. Thursday.Show entries will be accepted at the back door of A. G. Ross Arena on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. only, and exhibitors are asked to have their items tagged and their entry forms filled out before they bring in their entries, if at all possible, to streamline the process. Entry lists and tags are available at the Elk Point Review, Elk Point Municipal Library and the Elk Point Information EcoCentre.

Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is the show’s public viewing day, and what a show it will be! Along with all the entries of the area’s best vegetables, fruits, baking, canning, crafts and creations, decked out with their prize ribbons, there will be rows and rows of outstanding quilts, another great show of the latest work by local artists once again coordinated by Shirley Kinneberg, a vendors’ market and an opportunity to enter to win donated items when you make a donation to Haying in the 30s Cancer Support Society. In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, there will be a special display of Canada 150 projects, while another display will celebrate the crafters’ growing excitement over tote bag making.

Speaking of excitement, there will be a bounce house right in front of the arena all day, for the kids to enjoy, absolutely free of charge. Also, Elk Point Minor Ball and Elk Point and District Lions will once again be serving up barbecued burgers at lunch time, so come on down and have fun!
