RCMP go the extra mile to help

Recently, I went downtown to do some shopping for what ended up being a pretty eventful 15-minute trip away from my home. When I was leaving, at eight o-clock, I remember seeing a guy half a block away. He stopped his bike and turned around and he saw me leaving. I'm quite sure he saw me leaving, and he must have come in this way and kicked in the door.

To the Editor:

Recently, I went downtown to do some shopping for what ended up being a pretty eventful 15-minute trip away from my home. When I was leaving, at eight o-clock, I remember seeing a guy half a block away. He stopped his bike and turned around and he saw me leaving. I'm quite sure he saw me leaving, and he must have come in this way and kicked in the door.

When I arrived home in 15 minutes, I could see someone had broken in and gone through my things, as a few items were missing. I called the RCMP and they told me to get out of the house because the criminal could still be in the residence.

Ten minutes later, the RCMP had arrived at my door, and I found out they had already apprehended the suspect. There had been an outstanding warrant for him. He had been riding a bike, wobbling along, and had tried to get away when he had seen the RCMP but was unsuccessful in escaping. When the RCMP returned to my house, they had my two tablets and a couple of portable DVD players that had also been taken.

I had been in a quad accident, which had led to me breaking my collarbone and four ribs and injuring my right hand. After the RCMP left, I noticed my painkillers were missing. I had to go back to the RCMP station to report the theft. The RCMP saw the danger, pointing out a child might have picked the pills up and immediately, they went looking for them. While searching the area, they saw my cell phone and the pills behind some trees, and returned them to me promptly.

I was just amazed at how fast they worked and how efficient they were to get my property back and press charges against the individual who broke into my home.

Thank you to the RCMP for the job they did for me and the job they do for all of St. Paul's citizens.
