St. Paul RCMP have been investigating what appears to be a homicide in Saddle Lake. The investigation began at about 3 a.m. on Thursday, when a man was shot and killed at a residence in Saddle Lake.

So far, the investigation has determined that early in the morning of Jan. 26, a vehicle entered the driveway of a residence. Suspects exited the vehicle and fired several shots at the house, according to RCMP.

The deceased, 26-year-old Chavez Boysis (of Saddle Lake), had been standing by a window inside the home when he was struck by one of the rounds fired at the house. The shooting suspects fled the scene shortly after.

Witnesses brought Boysis to a medic station, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined that Boysis died as a result of being shot, and that his death is a homicide, according to RCMP.

Police believe that the shooting was targeted, and not a random act.

RCMP is looking for help in solving the murder, and is asking anyone who may have information about the investigation to call St. Paul RCMP at (780) 645-8888, or Crime Stoppers (to remain anonymous) at 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display, call trace, or tape any of its phone calls.

If information offered through Crime Stoppers leads to an arrest, you may qualify for a cash reward up to $2,000.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and members from St. Paul RCMP, along with the RCMP's Major Crimes Unit from Edmonton, along with the Forensic Identification Section are involved.
