St. Paul Regional High School is hosting this year's 3A girls Alberta Schools' Athletic Association (ASAA) provincials. The action started on Thursday and will wrap up on Saturday.

Games will take place at both Regional High School and Glen Avon School. Twelve teams from 3A schools across the province will participate in the provincial tournament.

"We’re very excited to host provincials...economically, the timing couldn’t have been better. To have a lot of people coming into town, visiting our hotels, restaurants, buying groceries and fuel," coach Hank Smid said. "We are also excited to have the teams here and see some great volleyball and some great games."

Also adding, the team is ready and is hoping to take a run and get into the playoffs.

"Regardless, we want to make a showing and play our best," he said.

The girls played on Nov. 20 on their home court at the high school. The Saints took on the team from Cochrane High School, losing in two sets; scoring 25-12 and 25-15.

The team will play again at 10:15 a.m. on Friday at Glen Avon School; 3:15 p.m. at Regional; and 5:45 p.m. at Glen Avon. The team will also hit the court at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 23) at Regional.

Playoffs will begin on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
