Harvest dinner to feature 'incredible' menu

A harvest dinner and dance is sure to please the community with both the food and entertainment being served on Nov. 2 at the Portage College Campus Event Centre in St. Paul.

The event is part of Portage College's 50th anniversary celebrations, which is taking place throughout the different communities where the post-secondary institution operates.

"We really want to start to get involved in the community again," says Rick Flumian, manager of community relations with Portage College.

The event not only brings the community together but also offers the opportunity to showcase what the college has to offer in St. Paul. Food will be catered by the culinary arts and baking students at Portage College, with some active cooking stations on display as appetizers are served up.

"The food is going to be absolutely incredible."

The harvest dinner will include an impressive menu of food, and also live entertainment by local band Second Son, auctions and a dance. Funds raised at the event will go into a scholarship fund that celebrates "spirit of community partnerships."

The scholarships are given to students who volunteer in the community, as a way to reward their efforts.

Over the years, Portage College has received plenty of support from the Town of St. Paul and County of St. Paul. Both of these municipalities will be thanked during the harvest dinner, says Flumian. He also notes that Devon Canada has been a golden jubilee sponsor for the overall 50th anniversary celebrations.

Tickets for the harvest dinner are available at Portage College and cost $50/each, or a table of eight can be purchased for $350.
