St. Paul RCMP, St. Paul Traffic Services and the Town of St. Paul's Municipal Enforcement stopped about 150 vehicles over two nights in St. Paul while conducting check stops over rodeo weekend.

The initiative was aimed at combating impaired driving, according to an RCMP media release.

"Three people were charged with various impaired driving charges and two tickets were issued for transporting open liquor," reads the release, adding, "A collision that resulted in injury, that is also believed to be alcohol related, is being investigated."

The collision occurred near 45 Street and 53 Avenue in the Town of St. Paul.

“Of the five years I have worked on rodeo weekend, I have never seen so many vehicles left in the parking lot of the Rec. Centre,” said Cpl. David Henry of St. Paul RCMP Detachment. “Although there were impaired charges, most people were responsible in finding a safe way home. Our goal is to continue to prevent impaired driving and to take impaired drivers off the roadways to keep the public safe. “
